I recently started OM’s new advanced yoga teacher training, the OM 300, with a weekend meditation intensive led by David Nichtern. David had a lot of smart and funny guidance but sitting doesn’t seem to get any easier. I do seem to be getting more familiar with the ways my mind gets distracted.
As part of the training, I’m starting work on a research & writing project on yoga theory/practice and some interesting intersections with western philosophy and technology theory/practice. Specifically, as I’ve blogged about, the web changes the way we collaborate and value each other’s contributions. Within this new, more open and interconnected way of working, there is a need for a more practice-oriented, holistic, and empirical approach. I think the two traditions can inform each other at some key points.
